BreyerFest

BreyerFest is an Annual national festival celebrating Breyer model horses and everything about collecting them, customizing and painting them, and showing them. Yes, they have model horse shows, and BreyerFest has one of the biggest shows in the country.

BreyerFest

BreyerFest at Kentucky Horse Park

During the 3-day event, held on the grounds and in the buildings of the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, a nonstop parade of live horse events is going on in the main horse arena, complete with vendor booths all around the perimeter behind the seating, while collectors are showing their best models in another barn. Even when BreyerFest is not running, The park is a must-see if you like horses. There are museums, and outdoor exhibits including barns with carriage horses and carriage rides.

Lots of Models

I had a three-day ticket, which included entrance to the park for the duration of BreyerFest, a model horse made just for the event, and an opportunity to purchase two additional limited edition models. You might ask why I sometimes attend this event. I no longer collect Breyer horses, but did when I was younger. My collection consists of about 300 or so horses, and a few other animals, and it is one of the things I never got rid of. It is fun to see all the kids and parents who are immersed in this hobby, and seeing so many models in one place is awesome.

During BreyerFest, I got lots of practice hooking and unhooking the electric and water from my RV since I had to drive it from the campground to the Horse Park parking lot each day. It was kind of nice, however, to be able to go sit in my RV and have a lunch break and unload the stuff I had acquired that otherwise would have been dragged around with me all day. I enjoyed the week in my RV and was really getting more comfortable with it. But I still have lots more to learn.
