A New Trail

Rio Grande River Bed

I posted another trail. The River Trail at Big Bend National Park in Texas, is a short walk to the edge of the Rio Grande River on the Mexican border. I always thought of the Rio Grande as a massive, wide river, but when I was there it was just a huge dry river bed with a small stream on the Mexican side. I could easily have waded across. This trail is just a short drive up the road from the much longer, more interesting Santa Elena Canyon Trail.

I have so many pictures of so many places, but uploading them takes time. There are now 10 hikes and 4 drives posted, with many more to come! Check back often, or "like" my Hike by Photo Facebook page where I'll let you know each time I put up a new trail or drive.

Catching Up

I'm still catching up on old blog posts. There are many amusing stories generated by pairing a new RV owner with an old RV, and the first few months need to be told in the order they happened. By doing so, maybe others who follow me into this wonderful but sometimes perplexing activity known as "RVing" may look at my stories and know without a doubt that "if she can do it, I most certainly can too".

As I read through my past blog posts, I can see the evolution of knowledge and experience I've gained. I've come a long way. I've still got a long way to go. And may I never finish learning new things. But somehow, I think there will always be more amusing stories to tell.

I have traveled quite a few places since my blog writing dwindled to nothing over a year ago (or was it longer), and no, I'm not going to try and place all those events by date and time. I will, instead insert bits and pieces from previous trips, like flashbacks in a movie, during my downtime between my current travels.

As I go forward, I hope to blog as I'm travelling so you can go with through the words and pictures I post here. There will probably always be less words than pictures, however, since, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

If You're Gonna Blog, You Have To Write Something

I Started this blog when I got my RV because I thought it would be a fun way to sort of keep a diary of my experiences traveling. A blog is a great idea, and can be shared with family and friends, and even people who come across it on the internet. Sounded like great fun! Problem is, if I'm going to blog, I have to actually write stuff on it once in a while (which I don't seem to be able to do). I have found out that I'm obsessive about taking way too many pictures of everything, but I put off writing until I almost forget what it was I wanted to say.

Modern technology has allowed me to have the tools needed to dictate blog entries using voice recognition which is quick and easy and then I just have to edit before publishing. I'm hoping this will make it more likely that I will get my thoughts down in a timely manner, before I forget where I was and what I was doing. We'll see...

A New Website

Today I feel my new website idea is becoming a reality. I moved my blog from my personal site, and have promised myself that I will work in earnest to fill in the gaps and bring it up to date. My new URL now points to this site, and after I get more content uploaded, I will start to let people know about it. I'm excited to now have a purpose to my excessive photo-taking habit that I have when traveling and hiking.
